MakeMKV Rips DVDs and Blu-Rays with Just Two Clicks

To this day, there are not many ways to watch your Blu-Ray collection in your computer without shelling out cash for the privilege, even if you already have a Blu-Ray drive and bought your own movies. On the contrary, it's easier to split your Blu-Rays to your computer and play with them in whatever program you want. Here is the ideal way to do it, and how to keep your file sizes small enough to keep your whole collection.

This way, you do not have to swap discs, you can play your pictures in any app you need, and you may also stream them to your other devices. You may even add your previous DVD collection. If you would like to rip your DVDs, this procedure will work too, but we will focus on Blu-Rays--our recommended procedure for DVDs is a little different. You can download makemkv keygen for activating this tool free.

What You'll Need:

You are going to need a couple of tools in order to start ripping your Blu-Ray collection. Before you begin, make sure you have set up the following:

If your computer came with any disk drive at all, it was probably a DVD drive. However, you are going to want a Blu-Ray reader in order to split your Blu-Ray discs (obviously). Fortunately, you can purchase them on line for under $60. If you want to burn your Blu-Ray discs, you'll need a drive that can read and write to blank Blu-Rays, but we'll assume you just wish to store them onto your hard drive.

MakeMKV: This program, available for both Windows and macOS, rips your Blu-Rays to an MKV file. That is it. MakeMKV provides a free beta that works for 30 days, but that is somewhat misleading. Each month, you may either download the latest version of the beta or trigger the program utilizing the most recent beta key in the conversation. This effectively extends the trial period forever. MakeMKV claims that it is only a beta product, but it has been in"beta" for years, so it may remain free for a long time. At the moment, you shouldn't have to pay for this program.

Handbrake: MakeMKV will rip off your Blu-Ray movie exactly as it is on the disc, which can be 20 or 30GB in size. So, we will use Handbrake to compress your MKV files to something a little more manageable, without losing quality. It's not only necessary, but it's a waste of tools to save play, and flow enormous video files in case you don't have to.

This is all you want. As soon as you've got all three of those things installed, catch your favourite Blu-Ray pictures and begin.

First, you'll need to do a basic tear of your Blu-Ray. MakeMKV is a dead easy app that does one thing very well: create a full-size, 1080p MKV media file from the Blu-Ray disc. As soon as you have your MKV, you can shrink it, convert it, or alter it however you want. You can also watch it as-is, should you would like, but it is probably better if you shrink it down a bit afterwards.

To split your picture, put the disk in your Blu-Ray drive and start MakeMKV. After a moment, a big Blu-Ray drive icon will appear. Click on this to scan the names on your disk.

Once MakeMKV is done scanning for titles, you will see a listing of these in the left panel of this app. It is possible to choose which names you want to split here. This list will consist of special features, deleted scenes, and anything else on the disc. It could take a little guess work to figure out which tracks are that, but if you simply want the film, it's likely the really big monitor which takes up around 20-30GB on the disk. Select just the tracks you wish to split.
